"In vivo application of TissuePatch3: Resolution of Grade 2 Air Leak."
The video demonstrates the application of TissuePatch3 in an open lung procedure for resolution of a grade 2 air leak. TissuePatch3 has numerous advantages for the surgeon, not least the fact that it is readily available and requires no preparation time, so can be opened and applied as soon as an air leak is encountered. In the video the surgeon can be seen simply placing the TissuePatch3 film directly over the air leak with the lung minimally inflated. Experience has told us that we can in fact apply the product with the lung half or even fully inflated. Once applied the surgeon simply applies gentle pressure with a dry swab for a period of 30 seconds, after which the film is bonded to the surface of the tissue, forming an air-tight seal. The nature of the product is that it hydrates quickly when in position, to become flexible and elastic while maintaining a firm bond to the surgical site throughout the critical wound healing period. TissuePatch3 is fully synthetic, containing no animal or human derived products. It bonds to the tissue surface significantly more strongly than Fibrin adhesives (35x force to remove) and absorbs fully in a clinically relevant timeframe of about 50 days postoperatively.
